Actias luna, or the Luna moth, caterpillars are available for shipment to certain states only for educational purposes, not for release! The reason for this is due to USDA limitations, I only hold permits to ship Lunas to certain states at this time. These gorgeous moths are very easy and fun to raise. They're one of our favorites for sure!

Available to these states only: Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin

Permits Pending for: Washington DC

No Lunas allowed for shipment to: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming

Caterpillars will need Sweetgum leaves and plenty of it for two to three weeks while they grow. Other host plants exist but this is what we are raising them on and they will not switch foods easily. Keep in mind silkmoths like Lunas only live for a week or two after they emerge from their cocoon and they may decide to overwinter depending on the time of year when they spin their cocoon.

***This species should not be released into the wild***

Each order is for a 5-7 4th-5th instar caterpillars that will be shipped in a container with enough food for their journey. If you have any questions while raising your lunas, we're always happy to help but also recommend trying the website for Bart Coppens, https://breedingbutterflies.com.
